Flying Wheels Summer Century
My first century of the year will be the Alaska Airlines Flying Wheels Summer Century | Cascade Bicycle Club. I'll be riding with a social team this year, which should make the miles fly by. The idea is if I can kill this ride, I'll be in good shape to prep for Cycle Oregon at the end of the summer. More about this ride coming soon!

I'm Riding Washington State in 2014
It's been a big year for MS research. We've seen 2 oral medications come on the market that have proven to slow progression of the disease. This is huge, as the only treatments available up until now have been injectable. There is also an exciting new drug, Ampyra, that can improve walking ability. It's the only drug specifically targeted to improve the daily life of people with MS (MS drug research has been singularly focused on slowing down the disease, not treating the chronic symptoms people already face). The MS Society funds research that results in these and other breakthroughs. We are in a very hopeful time.
Please support me today. This September I'll be riding in Washington state. I'm excited to ride in my 6th new state this year.

Still the best ride ever, 2011’s Reach the Beach did not disappoint. I rode with a group of friends at all different riding levels. A drizzly, cooler ride this year, and still the best.

I can’t find a previous blog I wrote about this ride, but I’m sure I did somewhere. It was a magical day. I forgot my sunglass and bought a new pair at the start line. How convenient that they were sold there! They turned out to be one of the best pairs of sunglasses I ever had. Zoe and I started out together and quickly picked up the other 2 dudes in the photo. I don’t remember who they were, but we ended up pacelining together almost the entire ride. We all rode at complimentary paces, which is hard to find! There we a few stretches that randoms added to out caboose, making our line 20 people long at one point. Amazing day!
This ride is a fundraiser for The American Lung Association, and remains to this day my favorite route of all time!

BikeMS 2004 Conifer Colorado
Last summer, more than 1,900 cyclists rode the Great-West MS 150 Bike Tour from Broomfield to Loveland and up the Big Thompson Canyon to Estes Park. They then continued on to Lyons via the St. Vrain Canyon before returning to Broomfield. While the event successfully raised more than $1.7 million for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, participants asked that the 2004 tour not include Estes Park.
The 2003 post-event survey indicated a desire to avoid the long, steep, difficult climbs up Horsetooth Reservoir, the St. Vrain Canyon, the Big Thompson Canyon and Devil's Gulch. Survey results also suggested that participants would prefer a southern route. After all of the results were tabulated, a volunteer committee of Great-West MS 150 participants, with some input from Chapter staff, developed the new route, which will be followed during the 19th annual Great-West MS 150 tour, "Rock the Rampart," on July 10 and 11.
The 2004 tour will begin in Conifer and traverse the Rampart Range through Buffalo Creek, Deckers and Woodland Park. There will be a century option in Colorado Springs and overnight accommodations at Colorado College. Participants will ride back to Conifer on day two.
